I think Weinberger's ideas are a huge part of the What is Web 2.0 and Web Squared articles. Weinberger's idea that information is now a social network asset is directly related to the other two articles. The other two articles take a look at how the internet has grown, and the internet has grown as fast as it has partly due to the fact that there is an abundance of information available that can be easily accessed and obtained. Social networks have learned how to access and obtain some of this information for business purposes. The last sentence of chapter 5 also pertains to the What is Web 2.0 and Web Squared articles. Weinberger says, "Control has already changed hands. The new rules of the information jungle are in effect, transforming the landscape in which we work, buy, learn, vote, and play" (Weinberger 106). With the internet being what it is today, now we can work, buy, learn, vote, and play online, all because of the massive amounts of information that is being passed through the new web every single day.

I'm sure I could organize my planner differently, but the way I have it organized works for me. Some people may not find my methods helpful, but highlighting and making lists helps me stay organized and on top of things. Some may also find that a digitized planner works better for them, especially with the ability to carry it with you wherever you go, like on your phone or laptop. I for one like writing things down because I feel as though I am more likely to remember something once I have written it down. My planner fits easily into my backpack, but sometimes I wish I had a digitized version that I could see on my phone. How I organize my planner says that I'm probably a little forgetful, and that I'm also highly creative. I tend to sketch in my planner and tape articles or recipes in it that I randomly find. I don't mind writing and I love to use color (highlighters) and sticky notes. How I organize my planner (and having a planner in general) also says that I value time, mine and others.

David Weinberger makes several key points in Everything Is Miscellaneous. I found the subject of organization to be quite interesting and had never related it to the subject of technology before. It makes sense though; technology does require a lot of organization. One of the key points Weinberger makes is that every person’s preference of categorization varies, based on their interests, passions, needs, and dreams. Along the same lines, Weinberger notes that alphabetical categorization doesn’t always work. I thought this was interesting because a lot of people tend to choose alphabetical categorization first, but sometimes that way of organizing may not be the most efficient. With the advancement of technology and the abundance of new information, new ways of categorizing information are needed.

In my life I tend to keep one thing organized, my planner. I used to catalog my movies and cds but over the years I realized that I didn’t need to be so anal. If my copy of Love and Basketball went missing, oh well, at least someone else will get to enjoy it. Nowadays I keep my planner organized and that pretty much keeps the rest of my life organized as well. I use different colored highlighters for different things and make lists on every other page. Keeping my planner organized helps keep me organized because I always know where I need to be and what I need to have done. Now that I think about it, I do keep one other thing organized, my closet. My closet is organized by season and color; it makes things so much easier when I’m looking for something specific.

Given my own future professional goals, I think the most important idea from this article is image recognition. As an aspiring photographer, I think image recognition is fascinating. For example, Apple's iPhoto organizes photos using faces, places, and events. Imagine your camera or computer doing all the sorting for you, image and face recognition is easier and faster and enables photographers to shoot more and worry less about sorting through thousands of images.

The most exciting web application that I have seen in the past year is Shopzilla. You can search for anything you need and the application will find it for you for the best price. Whenever I need to buy something, I always search for it on Shopzilla first to make sure I am getting it for the best price. The results come from all over, like websites like Amazon and Wal-Mart.
